CEO: PGNIG sees peaceful Gazprom dispute solution improbable

KRYNICA-ZDROJ, Poland, Sep 8 (PRIME) -- An out-of-court settlement of a gas price revision dispute between Poland’s oil and gas company PGNIG and Russian gas giant Gazprom is improbable, CEO Piotr Wozniak told PRIME on Thursday.

“Like us, Gazprom is waiting for an arbitration ruling, which will be made in July or August next year in accordance with the procedures, this is why the negotiations went sour. Maybe, Gazprom will react positively to our proposal, then the dispute will end earlier and the costs will be smaller, but we hardly believe in this,” Wozniak said.

In November 2014, PGNiG said it asked Gazprom and Gazprom Export to revise the gas price stipulated by a long-term agreement, saying the situation on the European energy market had changed much. The price negotiations ended in May 2015, and PGNiG filed a lawsuit against Gazprom and Gazprom Export to the Stockholm Arbitration Court.
